Wrapped In Grace

Acts 10:34-35 Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God goes not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right."

This message is the one we are called to deliver.  God loves all people and Jesus is the proof.  Jesus was sent to the world, not just to a certain group of people.  He is Lord and we are called to share Him and His message.  On Christmas, it is easy to get wrapped up, no pun intended, in all of the family traditions we are a part of.  These are wonderful things to celebrate.  We have several in our family too. This year though, I want to be sure I share Jesus outside of my family.  I want to help others have the life of freedom that I have received through Jesus.  I want His grace to wrap them up and touch their hearts so deeply that they are never the same.  This is what I have learned over the last year.  God is with me at all times, especially in my darkest moments, and He gives me grace, peace, and love to move forward.  I want all people to have this gift this Christmas.  May you enjoy your traditions today and meet the One who loved you so much that He gave His only Son, so that you might believe in Him ,and not die but have life everlasting.  To God be the glory!

Mercy and Compassion

Jude 22-23 Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear--hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. This is something I have struggles with, loving those who frustrate me.  How can we be merciful to those who are "corrupt" without being judgmental?  It is definitely not our place to judge one another, it is our place to love one another.  Sometimes loving the people who are rude or cruel is the hardest part of being a Christian.  My humanity would like to judge people for their behaviors and choices and lash out at them.  I believe we are only able to show true mercy and compassion for others when we accept these for ourselves from Jesus and then He lives them through us.  Allowing God to change our hearts in order that Jesus' mercy and compassion shine through is a journey.  It's not always easy.  On those difficult days, I remain quiet and ask God to love on me, so I...

For Mom

1 Corinthians 13:4-5 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. This is a post for Mom.  She is the embodiment of these words written by Paul.  When I think of Mom and who God created her to be, this is it.  Each of these phrases describes her perfectly.  Mom learned very early on in her walk with Jesus to let Him have His way in her life.  Who she is and has been to people is the testament to that.  Her patience with a super naughty 2-year old, namely me, rivaled that of Job.  I don't ever remember her getting angry.  Quite frankly, Mom and the word angry in the same sentence is laughable.  She never bragged or boasted about us (even though we know she's proud of us) because that wouldn't be showing love to her listener.  Mom was never rude, she was always serving others, and she was never jud...

My Friend, Jesus

John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. I had a conversation with my sister once upon a time and she asked me this question.  "Who is Jesus to you?"  I told her, "He is my friend."  Of course Jesus is many things to me; Lord, Savior, King, and so on, but when I talk with Jesus, I talk to Him as my friend.  He and I work together to accomplish the will of the Father.  When I pray to Jesus, I use a very familiar tone that is comfortable and easy.  He is someone I feel very close to and have an overwhelming sense of comfort and calm.  I am content to sit with Him and say nothing, which is sometimes the most enjoyable.  You've got friends you can do that with.  You know, friends that you don't have to fill every bit of silence with something.  That's how I Jesus and I are.  We can sit and not talk or anything and just be together.  I like that.  So today I ask you, who is Jesu...
