Approach God

Ephesians 3:12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

Jesus bridged the gap between God and man, which also allowed for all people to come to God, not just the nation of Israel.  In approaching the throne with confidence, it means that we no longer need to feel the shame that Adam and Eve felt in the garden.  We can be free knowing that God knows who we are at our darkest moments and those are exactly why He sent His son.  Jesus died for us while we were still sinners, showing the love of the Father for all of creation.  We are free to come to God through Jesus and can rest assured in the confidence of what lies ahead because of him.  At the throne  of grace there is no shame, guilt or fear.  Love, freedom, and assurance are offered through faith in Jesus Christ our Lord.  Let us approach the throne of grace through Jesus and meet our Creator so that we may experience the depth of His love for us.

Mercy and Compassion

Jude 22-23 Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear--hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. This is something I have struggles with, loving those who frustrate me.  How can we be merciful to those who are "corrupt" without being judgmental?  It is definitely not our place to judge one another, it is our place to love one another.  Sometimes loving the people who are rude or cruel is the hardest part of being a Christian.  My humanity would like to judge people for their behaviors and choices and lash out at them.  I believe we are only able to show true mercy and compassion for others when we accept these for ourselves from Jesus and then He lives them through us.  Allowing God to change our hearts in order that Jesus' mercy and compassion shine through is a journey.  It's not always easy.  On those difficult days, I remain quiet and ask God to love on me, so I...

Thank You

My year is complete.  I will not be posting any new Daily Devotionals.  However, I may post some updates on what is coming next for me as a writing project.  I will leave the site up for you if, you're just starting or just wanting to reread.  I am grateful to all of you who have read and journeyed with me this year.  God has been good in the midst of trial and joy.  I pray the best for you in 2015.  Thank you for reading!
