Amen!


Father, I pray that today you would hold close those who are experiencing unfathomable pain.  Father bring together families in their time of need.  Bind the evil one that he will not tempt or sway anyone.  Father may the truth be known and may you provide a goodness that can only come from your mighty hand.  May we rest in the assurance that you are in the muck and the mire, and that you are watching over each and every one of us with the greatest care.  Jesus may we feel the strength in your empathy as you wrap your loving arms around us in our time of great need.  May your sacrifice be ever in our hearts that we may live a life for you and in you.  Spirit walk ahead of us and prepare the way for we are unsure of our path, but you know the exact steps we will take.  Work through us today to grant us peace and bring others into the presence of Christ Jesus.  May you perform miraculous signs of healing for which only You can receive the glory.  For in You lies the Power, the Grace and the Glory for all ages.  Amen!

Mercy and Compassion

Jude 22-23 Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear--hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. This is something I have struggles with, loving those who frustrate me.  How can we be merciful to those who are "corrupt" without being judgmental?  It is definitely not our place to judge one another, it is our place to love one another.  Sometimes loving the people who are rude or cruel is the hardest part of being a Christian.  My humanity would like to judge people for their behaviors and choices and lash out at them.  I believe we are only able to show true mercy and compassion for others when we accept these for ourselves from Jesus and then He lives them through us.  Allowing God to change our hearts in order that Jesus' mercy and compassion shine through is a journey.  It's not always easy.  On those difficult days, I remain quiet and ask God to love on me, so I...

For Mom

1 Corinthians 13:4-5 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. This is a post for Mom.  She is the embodiment of these words written by Paul.  When I think of Mom and who God created her to be, this is it.  Each of these phrases describes her perfectly.  Mom learned very early on in her walk with Jesus to let Him have His way in her life.  Who she is and has been to people is the testament to that.  Her patience with a super naughty 2-year old, namely me, rivaled that of Job.  I don't ever remember her getting angry.  Quite frankly, Mom and the word angry in the same sentence is laughable.  She never bragged or boasted about us (even though we know she's proud of us) because that wouldn't be showing love to her listener.  Mom was never rude, she was always serving others, and she was never jud...

My Friend, Jesus

John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. I had a conversation with my sister once upon a time and she asked me this question.  "Who is Jesus to you?"  I told her, "He is my friend."  Of course Jesus is many things to me; Lord, Savior, King, and so on, but when I talk with Jesus, I talk to Him as my friend.  He and I work together to accomplish the will of the Father.  When I pray to Jesus, I use a very familiar tone that is comfortable and easy.  He is someone I feel very close to and have an overwhelming sense of comfort and calm.  I am content to sit with Him and say nothing, which is sometimes the most enjoyable.  You've got friends you can do that with.  You know, friends that you don't have to fill every bit of silence with something.  That's how I Jesus and I are.  We can sit and not talk or anything and just be together.  I like that.  So today I ask you, who is Jesu...
