Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
I'm feeling tired of waiting. I'm there today. Sometimes the waiting gets the best of me and I have to meditate on Hebrews 12:1. I know God has a plan, but sometimes living out that plan seems to take longer than I planned. At times the race seems a bit laborious and we find ourselves stopping, as the hare did, to "take a nap". Hebrews 12:1 reminds us to keep running. Find those people, those saints, who surround you and support you and run the race with perseverance. I envision a runner who is casting off shackles and beginning to clumsily run as they fall from his body. His face shows pure freedom as he releases them to the ground and recognizes who he is running toward, Jesus. Sometimes I need to be reminded that my life on earth is not about me. In my case, I need to drop the shackles that have already been removed, and run to Jesus. As long as I'm with Him, who cares how long I have to wait? Resting in Jesus is the best type of waiting.
